HP has finally confirmed its launch information for the upcoming HP Slate 500 Tablet. The Windows 7 device will be powered by Intel’s 1.86GHz Atom Z540 processor and Graphics Media Accelerator 500 chip. It relies on an 8.9-inch, 1024×600 display as its sole interface.
Users will have the option of purchasing an extra keyboard & mouse, as well as a pen with the tablet. All though the HP Slate 500 is smaller than the Apple iPad, it weighs the same amount, that’s pretty amazing considering all the hardware inside it.
A special HDMI dock is available for the Slate 500 which will allow the user to output video’s to a T.V.
The HP Slate 500 Tablet is expected to roll out early next week sometime, unfortunately it will only be available online in the company’s US business and enterprise online stores and at $799. This is slightly more expensive than the 16GB Apple iPad, which starts at $499.
